Letter from the Recruitment Chair
Congratulations on choosing to attend Lynn University in sunny South Florida! We cannot wait for you to discover our beautiful campus and all that it has to offer. There are many great opportunities for us students at Lynn, such as Greek Life, which has brought me comfort in finding my home away from home and my new extended family!
Without a doubt, this year will be an amazing year for Theta Phi Alpha! We cannot wait to welcome our Delta class and share with them all of the knowledge that we have of Theta Phi Alpha. We have found friends who will last longer than a lifetime, bigs and littles, philanthropy events, socials and sisterhood events! The bond that I share with these girls, both current and alumnae, it’s as if we have known one another our entire lives. In Theta Phi Alpha, there is never a dull moment, thanks to the widely diverse group of women that we all call sisters. From the 3.0 program to Aviation Management majors through the Relay For Life committee, our members are involved in many different organizations on campus.
Other activities that our sisters are involved in both on and off campus include Drama Club, Best Buddies, Resident Assistants, the Student Activities Board, we have sister who are competitive equestrians, teachers as well as full or part-time jobs!
In addition to being actively involved, Theta Phi is very active in the community with multiple philanthropies! As a chapter, we have walked in the AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) Out of the Darkness Walk three, going on four years in a row! At this walk, our team was recognized as one of the top three highest fundraising teams, with one of our sisters being in the top three for the most money fundraised individually. We have also walked in the Arthritis Foundation's walk in support of one of our founding sisters' struggles with arthritis; we have also walked in the JDRF walk to help cure Type 1 Diabetes! Another one of our founding sisters was diagnosed with T1D at a young age and has been shown support and an interest in learning how to help her if needed by the entire chapter!
We are extremely passionate and inspired each day by our national philanthropies as well! Through the Theta Phi Alpha Foundation, Theta Phi Alpha supports two philanthropic causes: Glenmary Home Missioners (Camp Friendship) and The House That Theta Phi Alpha Built (Help fight the plight of homelessness within our area). Each year there are events done for each cause; we have tye-dyed shirts, made friendship bracelets and picture frames for Camp Friendship as well as going to Habitat for Humanity and Boca Helping Hands to help provide to the homeless within our local area!
Ultimately, Theta Phi Alpha will open doors to many new and exciting experiences. I cannot wait to meet each and every one of you in the fall during recruitment! I want nothing more than to build a personal bond and relationship with each of you and watch you discover how you can benefit our chapter and how our chapter can benefit you!
Always,
Paige Miller
